The city of Sheffield, located in South Yorkshire, England, was one of very few cities selected to be given the first title of UK City of Culture back in 2010. The botanical gardens are spanned over 19 acres and includes a large Victorian era glass house. The Hillsborough Walled Gardens, to the north of the city center, dates back to 1779 and was dedicated to victims of the Hillsborough Disaster after it’s redevelopment in the early 1990’s. The Peace Gardens makes up a part of the Heart of the City project and is mostly made up of intricate water features with the Goodwin Fountain being the most impressive.
The Winter Gardens, which lies within the Heart of the City, is a very large, glass skinned greenhouse. This vast greenhouse houses around 2500 plants from all over the world, and provides a unique landscape that is sure to impress you.
Leisure and entertainment are also at your fingertips in Sheffield. Valley Centertainment is an incredible complex in the Don Valley, and several restaurants, bars, a cinema multiplex, and a bowling alley call it home. It is the largest Cineworld complex in the entire United Kingdom, with 20 screens in one building. After you’ve done your days work in the Sheffield facial courses, if you’re looking to grab a pint then West Street is your destination. Running through the heart of the West End district, many bars, pubs, and nightclubs attract many student visitors.
